Student & Parent iPad Expectations

The following information is pertinent to the distribution of the iPad and accessories to EASD students as well as the overall care and expectations for the device. View our EASD iPad Expectations (PDF) flyer.

eLearning and Board Policies

All Easton Area School District students enrolled on a full-time basis will receive an iPad and accessories to enhance learning as part of our eLearning 1:1 Program. iPads are to be returned as received, except normal wear and tear as determined by the District, according to end-of-year building procedures or when requested by any school District official. The Easton Area School District School Board Policy 815.1: Use of District-Owned Technology and School Board Policy 815: Use of the Internet and the District’s Network apply to all students and staff using district issued devices, regardless of location.

The iPad is a Learning Tool
  • The iPad is to be used for educational purposes only. It is owned, managed, filtered, and may be tracked by EASD. Students will automatically join our content filter when they sign into their iPad at home and at school.

  • It is expected that all students will bring the iPad to school every day. This is essential for student learning, therefore needs to become part of their daily routine. When students come home from school, help remind them to charge the iPad and, each morning, help them to remember to put the charged iPad back into their backpack. This is a great opportunity for students to begin learning how digital tools can be helpful…try setting an alarm on the iPad for each morning so the iPad can help remind students to bring them to school! Likewise, an alarm set for the afternoon each day could be used to help students remember to take it out of their backpack and plug it in.
**Students who forget to bring their iPad to school will not be provided with a loaner.

  • It is expected that the iPad will be fully charged at home. Access to charging stations is available in the school; however, may be limited and may require the student to go without the device during learning opportunities.

General Care

  1. Students are responsible for keeping track of their device and taking precautions to keep it safe.

    • Chargers and cables are frequent targets for theft. Please keep them secure at all times, and away from pets or younger children.

    • Be aware that the iPad is in the backpack. Do not throw or sit/stand upon the backpack. Do not leave backpack unattended. When purchasing new backpacks for your children, consider getting one with a padded section specifically made for protecting iPads/laptops!

    • Top repair request for iPads: cracked or broken screens.

    • Do not place anything on the screen (ex. Pencil, phone, etc.)

    • Do not place excessive weight or pressure on the screen.

    • Do not lean on the top of the iPad at any time.

    • Do not touch the screen with anything besides your finger or an approved stylus.

  2. iPads must remain free of any writing, drawing, stickers, or labels that are not applied by the District. The district asset tag must be showing at all times.

  3. The district-issued protective cover is not to be removed or replaced.

  4. Please note that students may receive iPads and accessories that have been utilized by other students and may be refurbished with second-party parts. In that instance, iPads will have been cleaned and sanitized.
