The Easton Area School District has developed health procedures to be followed in the event of an illness, injury, or other health concern. These procedures are intended to ensure best care for those who need that care, while also maintaining a safe and healthy school environment for all.
Excuses
-
Physical education excuses should be written by a physician and given to the school nurse.
-
Upon returning from an injury requiring accommodations at school (elevator, extra time between classes, crutches, brace, etc.), a student must report to the nurse with a physician's note.
Fever
-
Students with a temperature of 100 degrees or greater should not report to school until they are fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication (Tylenol or Motrin).
-
Students will be sent home by the nurse for any temperature of 100 degrees or greater.
Infection
-
Students with an infection requiring antibiotics should complete 24 hours of the medication prior to reporting to school.
-
Antibiotics that are prescribed 3 times a day do not need to be given at school; they can be given before school, after school and before bed.
Lice
-
Students with live lice will be sent home immediately by the nurse to undergo lice removal treatment.
-
Students are expected to report to the school nurse upon return to school.
-
The school nurse will inspect the student to ensure treatment was completed.
-
Siblings in the EASD may be checked by the school nurse team.
Sent Home by the Nurse
-
In the event of illness or injury at school, the school nurse will notify the parent if the student needs to go home early.
-
Students should not request early pick up for illness/injury without seeing the nurse first.
-
At times, the nurse may request the student see a physician for medical evaluation and/or treatment before returning to school.
