Programs
ELD (English Language Development) is a program that is designed for students whose primary language is not English. It assists and/or increases the English language learner’s proficiency of speaking and understanding English in the school setting and in his/her everyday living environment. The ELD program assists students with reading, writing, speaking, and listening of the English language. Visit the ELD page for more information.
Family Connection is the family center in the Easton Area School District. Family Connection works together with EASD schools to help remove learning barriers, engage and support families, develop positive school/family/community partnerships, and provide extra learning opportunities.
Gifted Education All students need to meet the Pennsylvania benchmarks, standards, and requirements. This curriculum adheres to Chapter 4 of the State School Code. In addition, activities are offered at an age and/or level appropriate level.
IST (Instructional Support Team) The goal of IST in the EASD is to maximize individual student success in the classroom and serves as a screening process for students who may be in need of special education services. It is a success-oriented program which uses assessment and intervention techniques to help remove educational, behavioral, or affective stumbling blocks for students in the regular education classroom. The members of the Instructional Support Team include the building principal, the school counselor, the student’s classroom teachers, and the IST teacher. Parents are also encouraged to participate in the process.
PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Supports) Improving student academic and behavior outcomes is about ensuring all students have access to the most effective and accurately implemented instructional and behavioral practices and interventions possible. PBIS provides an operational framework for achieving those outcomes. More importantly, PBIS is NOT a curriculum, intervention, or practice, but IS a decision making framework that guides selection, integration, and implementation of the best evidence-based academic and behavioral practices for improving important academic and behavior outcomes for all students.
Special Education The EASD’s Special Education Department has expanded the instructional options in grades K-2 to create additional instructional opportunities for special education students with learning disabilities. Please visit the Special Education page for more information.
