January Keystone Testing Parent Information
In January, the Keystone Exams will be administered to all 9
grade students currently enrolled in a Keystone related course. The Keystone Exams will test proficiency in the subject areas of Algebra I, Literature, and Biology. All students are required to take these exams once they have completed the appropriate coursework in these subjects. Any 10
grade student taking a related math, science, or literature course who did not score proficient on the Keystone Exams last year will also be retested. The literature assessment will be administered on January 10
, the Biology on January 12
, and the Algebra assessment on January 17
On the days the students are testing, the high school will follow a modified schedule to insure students have ample time to complete their assessments. The reporting time of 7:20AM and ending time of 2:20PM will not be altered for the Keystone Assessments. The testing time will be from 8:35AM to 10:35AM each day and any student not testing will be in their regularly scheduled class during this time. If your child attends CIT and is not testing, they will follow their regular scheduled departure and arrival times.
The faculty and staff at EAHS have been working diligently to prepare your child for these assessments and to provide the necessary intervention or remediation. Our teachers are using the Classroom Diagnostic Tools (CDT) assessment in the areas of Biology, Literature and Algebra to assist in identifying individual student need. These diagnostic assessments are given twice during the semester and also serve as indicators for the potential success of our students on the Keystone Exams.
We ask your assistance in assuring that your son/daughter is at school on the days that he/she is scheduled to take the assessment(s). We would also appreciate it if you could convey to your child the importance of these assessments and strongly encourage him/her to do his/her best on test day. Please see the enclosed pages Information for Parents or Guardians and Information on Electronic Devices Notification Letter. You may alsovisit www.education.state.pa.us for more information as the Pennsylvania Department of Education continues to update its policies and procedures regarding the Keystone exams.
Thank you for your commitment to your child’s education.

EAHS Student Assistant Program (SAP)
The Student Assistance Program is a way to identify at-risk students who are having problems in school and to refer them for help. This is an intervention, not a treatment. The heart of the program is a core group of trained school personnel.
