Testing and Test Dates
The Elementary School Counselor is responsible for the following:
•Distributing and collecting standardized tests
•Administering the Weschler Individual Achievement Test as part of an educational psychological evaluation
•Administering the Kaufman Brief Intelligence Test and the Kaufman Test of Educational Achievement as part of the gifted screening process

Welcome to the Palmer School guidance site. This website is designed to help not only the students, but parents, teachers, counselors, and administration. It will provide you with basic information about our guidance office. Our guidance office has 1 counselor who is available for students to meet with during the school day.
Meet the Counselor
My name is Jenny Volchko. I look forward to serving the students and parents of Palmer School. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. I am located in the main hallway of the Auld Building just past the cafeteria.
Student Support Services
The Elementary School Counselor is responsible for obtaining parental permission, gathering information and submitting the appropriate paperwork for the following support services:
•occupational therapy
•speech and language
•physical therapy
•vision support
•educational psychological evaluation
•homebound instruction
Counseling Activities
The Elementary School Counseling program may provide procedures designed to stimulate academic, personal and social growth. The procedures are:
•to provide small group counseling services, as needed
•to provide individual, short term student counseling services pertaining to school based issues, as needed
•to provide classroom intervention services whenever possible
•enlist parent participation in their child's counseling experience
•to intervene with students at the request of other agencies and parents
•to obtain the consent of the family whenever providing on-going counseling services
Consulting Responsibilities
The Elementary School Counselor is involved in the following consulting activities:
•as a participant of the Multi-Disciplinary Team and the Instructional Support Team
•to a physician in regard to a child's special needs
•to other professional in regard to private therapies
•to interpret standardized tests and student records as needed
•to establish and maintain contact with various community service agencies
•to advise faculty, family and administration regarding the referral process for additional or support services as requested
•to secure existing school records for transferring students
•to act as a third party to classroom concerns (thru observation)
•to act as a listener/ advisor regarding concerns of students, faculty and parents
