Newspaper

The March School newspaper is published at various times throughout the school year. Articles and original writing for the newspaper are submitted by the students and staff members of March School. The staff member may work with students or submit an article of their own.

All articles are submitted to the faculty advisor for the March School newspaper.  Once the articles are submitted, the newspaper is organized, printed and published.

Band and String Orchestra
In the Easton Area School District, third graders have the option of beginning string instrument lessons and fourth graders may choose to learn to play a string or band instrument. All students taking instrumental lessons become member of these performing ensembles when ready. The ensembles rehearse during the school day and perform in two concerts during the school year, one in December and one in May. Student wishing to learn an instrument will receive information regarding renting or borrowing an instrument in September.

Third Grade Chorus and Fourth Grade Chorus at March School are both volunteer singing ensembles in which students can further their musical interests.  The Fourth Grade Chorus participates in a winter concert and both ensembles participate in the spring concert. The choruses meet separately for 40 minutes a week to learn a variety of music. They work to prepare for concerts as well as to learn proper singing techniques.  Members of either ensemble are expected to follow the guidelines of FAME and, with the cooperation of their parents, report to concerts prepared and on time.  Chorus students make the commitment to remain in chorus for an entire semester. We encourage all students to participate in chorus and have fun learning to sing!

What better way to capture your child’s elementary school memories than through a yearbook! The March School Yearbook is a collection of pictures and memories that take place throughout the school year. Students can purchase a yearbook as a souvenir of their experiences at March Elementary School. This year there are numerous exciting activities planned that involve the school yearbook. At the end of the school year all students have the opportunity to gather on the playground to exchange the autographs of their classmates and teachers.

One of the most important – and fun – jobs of a F. A. March 4th grader is Safety Patrol. Every morning and afternoon, the Safety Patrollers volunteer their time to help keep the March children safe. All of the Safety Patrollers take a great responsibility when they wear their badge and belt. Mrs. Wood and Miss Young, the teachers in charge of the Safety Patrol, assign jobs (posts) to the Safety Patrollers. The Safety Patrol is a big part of F.A.M.E and our school. The teachers all thank the Safety Patrol for helping them help keep our school SAFE.

Looking for a FAMEtastic time during the cold winter months? F. A. March’s Ski Club is open to third and fourth grade students. There are six Friday night trips up to Shawnee Mountain. We leave school around 3:00 p.m. and return around 9:00 p.m. The season package includes a chartered bus, lessons, rental equipment (no snowboards), and lift ticket for each trip.

“Ski” you on the mountain!

Lunch Bunch

These small groups provide the guidance counselor with an opportunity to interact with students in an informal setting.  Students choose three others in their grade level with whom they would like to have lunch.  The counselor arranges the schedules and the groups, making sure each student is with at least one person they chose.   Groups can vary in size; 3-6 students is most workable.  Groups meet during the grade level's lunch period, in the counselor's office.  Lunches are brought or purchased as usual.  Each group meets once.  This activity has been successful with grades three and four.  It allows for the development of social skills, improved communication, table manners and self-confidence.
