Course Description
This Honors course will examine United States
history since 1898, and will do so in more
detail than the College Prep level. Students
choosing this level should have an interest
in history and a desire to attend a four-year
college or university. A major emphasis will
be placed on writing and historical research,
including primary source analysis. Writing
assignments will be assigned on a regular
basis and include different types of writing,
such as the formal essay. Students selecting
this course should have a strong English
background, as writing is an important part
of the class. The course will begin with the
Spanish-American War and cover the major
events in U.S. history in the twentieth century.
Selecting this course will require the student
to do a large amount of work outside the
classroom, including research and projects.
