Honors U.S. History II

Course Description

This Honors course will examine United States

history since 1898, and will do so in more

detail than the College Prep level. Students

choosing this level should have an interest

in history and a desire to attend a four-year

college or university. A major emphasis will

be placed on writing and historical research,

including primary source analysis. Writing

assignments will be assigned on a regular

basis and include different types of writing,

such as the formal essay. Students selecting

this course should have a strong English

background, as writing is an important part

of the class. The course will begin with the

Spanish-American War and cover the major

events in U.S. history in the twentieth century.

Selecting this course will require the student

to do a large amount of work outside the

classroom, including research and projects.

Prerequisite: Honors U.S. History I;

concurrent enrollment in Honors American

Literature; or teacher recommendation;
