Easton High School's Alma Mater

Easton High School Alma Mater:

The Arch, with its Keystone, our symbol of strength,
The Hills, where the green forests grow.
And the Delaware Forks brings a message of old
Where the great rivers, murmuring, flow.
All Hail! Alma Mater! The Pride of our Hearts!
Easton High School, Our High School so dear.
We pledge to your welfare the strength of our lives!
Now and ever, as year passes year.

What does it mean?....

The Arch, with its Keystone, our symbol of strength
The keystone is the stone at the top of the arch above a doorway - it supports the entire arch and is the "key stone" or the most important stone in the structure. The original Easton High School had an arch with a keystone at the main entrance.

The Hills, where the green forests grow.
Standing in Easton there are hills and green trees all around. South Side and College Hill overlooking downtown Easton, and even more hills are all around the townships of Easton.

And the Delaware Forks brings a message of old
Where the great rivers, murmuring, flow.

In the heart of Easton the Delaware and Lehigh rivers come together, their waters constantly reminding us of the our proud history.

All Hail! Alma Mater! The Pride of our Hearts!
Easton High School, Our High School so dear.

We are proud of our High School, and it is very special and important to us all.

We pledge to your welfare the strength of our lives!
Now and ever, as year passes year.

We promise to dedicate our strengths and good fortunes to help Easton High School, now and in future years as we grow older.

This alma mater is sung with true pride by the students and alumni of Easton Area High School. It is sung before all home sporting events, and for generations it has been sung on the buses by athletes as they are driven back onto the grounds of the high school from away games.

...and for those of us lucky enough to remember the way Gouge Andrews would say the words..."Beat P'burg!"
