Field Trip to the Apple Store!
On April 28, select members of the Easton Area Middle School and Academy iTeam, went on a Field Trip to the Lehigh Valley Apple Store for an unforgettable learning experience. Accompanied by EASD Technology staff, students began their day practicing photography and videography outside the Apple Store. Students gathered a collection of photos and video of each other, nature, and architecture. After arriving at the Apple Store, the students received an iMovie lesson given by Apple experts covering how to import photos into an iMovie project, add themes, and edit text and music. Students then worked for nearly an hour on the various computers throughout the store, importing their own photos and video from the trip and combining it with material provided by Apple. The iTeam students will use the skills learned on their field trip in the production of their their school’s digital scrapbook at the end of the school year as well as to assist other students and teachers in classroom lessons.
Fun is in session.
Entrepreneurship
Mrs. Klein’s Entrepreneurship classes have been busy writing business plans that were submitted to the Lafayette College program Resources for Independence and Social Entrepreneurship (RISE). Two business plans were chosen to receive $500 each in order to start their businesses.
Mariana created a music book, Z books, for beginning string players. The music book has an accompaniment CD with a musical arrangement of each song. This allows the child to play along with the CD. The music books are intended for students in elementary schools.
David, Ethan and Evan will be kicking off a smoothie

Luigi’s Reading Day at Paxinosa
As part of the AFG Strategic Plan for Literacy, Mrs. Almond and some 3rd grade students at Paxinosa were introduced to Luigi, a therapy dog, and Anne, Luigi's handler. The students were given a brief lesson on how to safely approach a dog on the first day of their visit, and are waiting in anticipation for their chance to read with Luigi. Therapy dog reading programs are becoming more common, with libraries and schools across the country accepting the dogs and their handlers as part of their daily routine. Reading with Luigi thus far has proven to be a great motivator for our third grade students at Paxinosa. We look forward to implementing the program at the start of the 2009-2010 school year!
