Talking Technology - EAMS 7/8
Check out the keyboarding lab at EAMS 7/8! Led by Mrs. Hines and Mrs. Palmer, it is MUSIC to the 7th grade students' ears!
Cheston Students Write to First Family
The My Sidewalks D fourth grade students at Cheston Elementary wrote letters to President Obama and his family. We were reading a Unit on Our Nation's Capital. It coincided nicely with the timing of the Inauguration. The students were very excited about the election of our 44th President.

Schools Working Together
Mrs. Werkheiser’s 2nd graders at Palmer Elementary send a big “Thank You” to Ryan Lieberman from Mr. Kerbaugh’s ‘Manufacturing & Construction’ class at Easton High School. As an extra credit project, Ryan constructed (3) work station dividers.
These dividers have enabled the students to work in small group Literacy centers with less classroom distractions.
Mr. Kerbaugh and Mr. Chillot delivered them just before our holiday break, and the children have been busy using them ever since. Thanks again from all of us!

Reading With Ms. Hancz
In reading we are preparing to read the story, Special Effects. It is a nonfiction story that shares all of the secrets behind making special effects in the movies that we watch! The skill for this story is graphic organizers. Graphic organizers are maps, time lines, charts, diagrams, and pictures with captions. You can use graphic organizers in many different subjects like social studies, math and science. For the next week, we will be discovering what goes on behind the scenes in movies such as: The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and Transformers...just to name a few!
Reading With Mr. Verile
In Mr. Verile's class we are learning about main idea and detail. We read the story Mahalia Jackson and listened to different genres of music. We had a student teacher from Lafayette College for the past 3 weeks, and Mr. Wilson will be dearly missed. We are now starting the story Special Effects and preparing for the PSSAs with our PSSA journals.
Math With Ms. Walter
This week we are working on fractions, reviewing for the PSSA testing and winning pawprints in the process.
Math With Mrs. Orwig
The students in Mrs. Orwig’s math class have been integrating technology into their math lessons. After learning about different types of graphs and how to collect data, students began a data project. They surveyed their classmates and collected necessary information needed to create graphs on student laptops. The students did a great job showing what they learned and expressing their creativity.
Science With Ms. Schaffer
Miss Schaffer's science classes enjoyed watching Punxsutawney Phil predict 6 more weeks of winter.
Social Studies With Mrs. Hunt
After watching the Inauguration of President Obama, the students of Team 5C wrote about their hopes for the coming years. Several of the students shared their thoughts in a podcast. Listen to the concerns and hopes of our 5th grade students on our school’s EAMS 5-6 web page.
On February 4th the students are presenting "An Evening of Exploration" for their parents. Students have chosen and created presentations about their favorite topics covered in Social Studies class during the first half of our year. Working individually and in small groups the students created 41 different presentations including songs, poems, interviews, posters, models, and interpretations of events spanning from the Ice Age to the settling of the Puritan Colony at Boston.
