The National Junior Honor Society would like to thank all the teams at Shawnee for participating in the "Pennies for Patients" fundraiser to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Shawnee raised almost $800.00 to benefit those who suffer from the number one cancer among teens. A special thank you to teams 8-2, 7-5 and 7-4 for collecting the most donations from their team.

On Friday, March 28th, Shawnee was privileged to have several students represent the school in the PMEA District 10 Band and Orchestra Festival which was held at Northeast Middle School in Bethlehem. The Shawnee students who were selected for band were:

A professional recording was made of the concert for purchase. I am extremely proud of their musical accomplishments and their professionalism.
The Easton Area School District 2008 Art Show will take place at the Palmer Park Mall. The exhibit will feature the artwork of students from EAHS and Shawnee from Wednesday, May 7th through Tuesday May 13th. Artwork from our elementary schools and EAMS will be proudly displayed from Thursday, May15th through Wednesday, May 21st. Please join in rover pride and see our creative side!

News from the A+ Team
In Social Studies, students are learning about Islam and its impact on American Society.
Students in Mrs. Kratzer’s class are writing a persuasive paper on an agent of change. Students chose their own topic and completed research, prewriting, and drafting. Currently they are working on writing their final copy and preparing to persuade the class that their person belongs in the hall of fame or shame.
Students in Ms. Lee’s class are working on two projects. One is an interactive periodic table. The other is an art project with Mrs. Casciano to produce a periodic table out of clay.

“Magic Groundhogs”
In English, Ms. Boyer’s classes are revising their “Hall of Fame/Hall of Shame” papers. The final submissions include papers about Lance Armstrong, Oprah Winfrey, Warren Buffet, Hitler, and George Bush. If you have any questions about who is nominated to be in the Hall of Fame and who has been nominated for the Hall of shame, ask Ms. Boyer.
Down the hallway, Mrs. Barber’s Math classes are simplifying expressions and making quadratic graphs.
