News from Team 7-1

The time has come!!!

Today Mr. Woodring will have his hair cut off by one lucky Shawnee Middle School student in front of the entire school.  All students that completed either/both reading or math Study Island requirements received a chance to be picked to do the honor.

The teachers of Team 7-1 will be leading our students in team building activities during classes, the week of PSSA's. Students will build a shelter with newspaper, masking tape, & garbage bags. We will also have other team building activities, and other fun activities to give students an opportunity to get to know each other & work together better.

Mr. Altimare’s classes will be learning the cultures of North Africa focusing on Islam.

Mr. Lucchetti's classes are reviewing figurative language and reviewing for the PSSAs.  They are getting ready to launch into poetry month by creating a book of original poems.

Mrs. Rittenhouse’s students are studying the Protist Kingdom. The students did a great job with their disease papers and projects.  Feel free to stop by and see some of our projects.

Miss Shipley’s classes are exercising their minds as they refresh their memories of reading skills in preparations for upcoming PSSAs! They are excited to show off all that they have learned!

Mr. Woodring’s classes are using computers to work on Study Island.  The students are really gearing up for the PSSAs.

Team 8-2 News

“Magic Groundhogs”

The science classes are both loving and hating Mr. Juniper’s “musical torture” on Newton’s Laws of Motion.  The educational lyrics, paired with contemporary beats and bass, offer an alternative to the labs and activities we do.  And if you can sing the songs, then you have a tool to understand physics, motion, and forces.  Oh, you want to hear the songs and watch the videos Mr. Juniper uses?  Great!  Just go to www.teachertube.com and search for “Newtons Law 1”, “Newtons Law 2”, & “Newtons Law 3”.

In Social Studies class, students are “meeting” Charlemagne and the Franks.  Nice to meet you both.

Go Team!

News from Team 8-6 (The A+ Team)

In addition to our regularly scheduled lessons this week, we have been focusing as a team on the needs of our students with PSSA testing.  In addition to after school activities, the team of teachers has assisted students as a group and individually in both math and reading.  The students have learned specific test taking strategies and reviewed content and question format.  We as a team believe that, with our combined effort and rapport, our students will perform well on these PSSA tests.

Here’s what’s new on Team 7-2:

GET WELL SOON MRS. O!     WE MISS YOU – a lot !!
