Friday Update – Team 8-6

The A+ Team is excited to end another marking period at Shawnee.  We are pleased to share the end of some creative units and introduce exciting new ventures.  In Social Studies, students just finished The Odyssey unit where students watched the movie and wrote a critical review.  Now students are learning about Ancient Greek mythology, philosophy and art.  Additionally, Mr. Ssemanda is teaching them about the beginning of democracy and how it has influenced our society.

In English class, students just finished revising their persuasive essays, and working with pronouns in their writing.  Now, they are learning about the life and times of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  Students will view the speech and focus on persuasive techniques as well as literary devices.  Students are excited to have a student teacher, Ms. O’Connor, from Moravian College.

Mrs. Fowler’s students just finished learning about three-dimensional figures, focusing on volume and surface area.  Next students will practice for PSSAs with the 4Sight tests.

Students in Ms. Lee’s class just finished their roller coaster creations (see picture).  Now, students will review volume, as they learned it in Mrs. Fowler’s class in a unit on density.

The teachers of A+ Team are looking forward to a educational third marking period.
