VIRTUAL FAIR at EAA

On Friday, December 21, 2007, the Easton Area Academy 5th and 6th grade students held a Virtual Science and Social Studies Fair.  The students were assigned a research project and instead of the traditional pen and paper report, they created websites using the information they gathered on the 50 states and our solar system.  The websites were created in iweb and the students recorded their podcasts in Garage Band.  There were many visitors to the Virtual Fair and the students did a PHENOMENAL job!  We even made an appearance on the channel 69 news! Check out their hard work at http://www.eastonsd.org/eaa and click on Virtual Fair.

The 5th and 6th grade students and staff would like to thank everyone who attended out fair.  You made our day extra special!

SCIENCE IS FUN at EAA

There was a lot of fun science activities going on in Mr. Svetecz’s science classes this week at Easton Area Academy.

In Mr. Svetecz’s Earth and Space science classes, students learned about how weather is predicted and what technologies are utilized.  Students then chose two different sites, compared and contrasted them with data, and came up with better ways to measure and predict the weather better.

In Mr. Svetecz’s Chemical and Physical science class, students had a fun-filled week of learning by experiment.  Students watched as a demonstration was done to make Elephant Toothpaste to analyze a heat reaction.  The highlight of the week was the Enzyme Lab.  A creative group of students added an idea Along with peroxide, a mix of alcohol and water will react with multiple chicken livers and create a mass detoxification enzyme reaction with the liver to foam, sizzle, and create pressure showing the reaction with the liver.  The students were excited with the result.
