Pairing, Sharing & Preparing….

At the beginning of the school year, Mr. Shinton’s 4th grade class from Cheston Elementary School and Mrs. Bozik’s 4th grade class from Forks Elementary School started writing letters to each other as a Pen Pal activity.  The children were paired with a “pal” and they wrote several times over the course of the school year sharing details about themselves and what they were doing in their classrooms.  On April 25th, the two classes met and shared in a day of activities.  The classes built a sharing web, they created Venn Diagrams and they worked on a group activity to assemble a jigsaw puzzle of the United States as well as listing the states and capitals.  The classes finished the day with a lunch in Cheston’s courtyard. Mr. Shinton and Mrs. Bozik hope that this activity will prepare the children for meeting new people when they move to the Middle School and they may see a familiar face in the hallways making the change of schools just a little bit easier.
