The Thesis

The thesis is very important. Indeed, it is the main idea of the entire paper. It presents your position. It is not a statement of purpose, and it is not merely a topic. It limits the subject to a relatively narrow focus and presents a position that requires defense.  It gives a reason for all of your research in the paper, and it conforms to your notecard evidence and your title. Generally, the thesis statement appears in the final sentence(s) of the final paragraph of the introduction.
