BIOMES

Was that Dr. Doolittle I saw at the Academy or can everyone hear the animals talk? During a recent science class, 6th grade students investigated characteristics of a biome including geographical location, climate/weather, plants, animals, natural resources, landforms, ecological concerns, conservation efforts and places of interest. Following their research, students created an electronic representation of their biome using print shop while applying their research content. As some students were cropping pictures, using the freehand tool, other students used their writing skills to create a descriptive paragraph about their Biome. They applied this to a Blabberize using an animal from their biome. Blabberize is a service that allows you to create your own talking picture, basically a moving mouth on a still image.

Students used the program Print Shop to create their posters and were graded on their content and creative use of the cropping tools to outline animals and plants and add them to a background specific to their biome.
