Parents/guardians must bring the child’s state birth certificate, or other proof of birth, the child’s social security number, and documentation of the child’s completed basic immunizations to the registration. Pennsylvania School Code mandates that NO child will be allowed to enter school without the following basic immunizations: diphtheria, tetanus, polio, measles, mumps, rubella (German measles), varivax, and hepatitis B. A second MMR is also required.
Parents/guardians must also present acceptable proof of residence as part of the registration process before a student is permanently permitted to attend school. Failure to do so will result in the student being removed from the school rolls. The following are examples of acceptable proof:
• Mortgage or lease agreements. These are temporary proofs of residency. After 30 days, a resident must submit another proof of residence to the school office.
• Driver’s license
• Auto registration
• Utility bills
• Tax statements
• Check stub from wages, public assistance or social security
Custody papers and affidavits of support, if applicable, should also be presented.
Children entering Kindergarten must be five (5) years of age before the first student day to enroll.
It is the policy of the Board of Education to provide a free and appropriate public education to each handicapped student within its jurisdiction, regardless of the nature or severity of the handicap. Parents/guardians who feel a child is in need of special programming or accommodations may request an evaluation through any school guidance office. It is the intent of the district to ensure that students who are handicapped within the definition of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 or Chapter 14 are identified, evaluated and provided with appropriate educational services.
