Students of the EASD will be able to demonstrate age-appropriate information fluency, understanding of the library facility and its many functions, as well as carry a love of reading into their adult lives.
The teacher- librarians in the EASD will actively promote collaboration with the faculty and staff to achieve the district goal of academically challenging program that enhances creativity, develops an ability to use technology and encourages critical thinking and problem solving. Each library will be a safe and welcoming place that includes current materials for both curricular and personal use that are age-appropriate and support our schools’ mission. They strive to make the library the place to develop and practice healthy and responsible habits for research and reading.
The EASD Library curriculum is being reevaluated and aligned with the PA Core Standards focusing on:
English Language Arts
Reading and Writing in Science & Technology
Reading and Writing in Social Studies and History
Academic Standards in Business
Computer and Information Technology
In this process the Pennsylvania Library Model Curriculum is being used as a guideline for the realignment found on the PA Department of Education Standards Aligned System (SAS) website.
