Dear Parents and Community Stakeholders,
Over the past several months, discussions regarding the creation of a charter school in Easton have centered around the STEM/STEAM curriculum components currently being offered in the Easton School District and whether these offerings are contributing to student success in these areas of study. The conversations have centered upon the notion of whether a specially designed charter school can offer more for our students in these areas than the curriculum within the district.
The information listed in the right margin is offered to those who are interested in knowing how much STEM/STEAM programming is available within the formal curriculum of the school district. As with all areas of study, we are constantly re-assessing and re-evaluating our program offerings to see how we can better generate the interest, excitement and success in learning that we desire for our students.
Since the organizers of the proposed charter school believe that their curriculum can offer more than what currently exists in our public schools, district leaders thought that the community should be able to view an outline of STEM/STEAM course offerings and educational experiences available to students currently enrolled in the district.
