MLA Format in MS WordSpacing: 1. In the Format menu, select Paragraph. 2. Change “Line Spacing” to “Exactly” and change “At” to “24 pt.” Change Margins: 1. In File menu select Page Setup. 2. Change both right and left margins to 1"; change bottom to .75. Header: 1. In View menu, select Header and Footer. 2. Alignment: change from left to right. 3. Font: The default font, New Times Roman, is a true type font with serifs. If you change the font, you must select one that has these same characteristics. True type fonts have TT in front of their names in the font menu. Change the size from 10 to 12 pt. Type your last name; press space bar 1x. 4. Pagination: in the Header and Footer tool bar, click the page number button. 5. Press Close button on Header and Footer tool bar. Font: The font used in the main part of the document must be identical to the font in the header in both size and type. Be sure to change the font size outside the header to 12 pt. Heading: Type your heading at the left margin beginning on the first line beneath the header. Title: 1. Change the alignment from left to centered; type the title. 2. Press return and change the alignment back to left from centered. To save as a template: 1. Select Save As from the File menu. 2. Change “Save file as type” from “Word Document” to “Document Template.”
